Documentary Credit
The formal name for a letter of credit. The instrument's full title in UCP 600 is 'documentary credit'; 'L/C' is the operator shorthand.
Documentary credit is the formal name UCP 600 gives to what operators usually call a letter of credit (L/C). The two terms are interchangeable — see the L/C entry for the canonical definition, and the UCP 600 entry for the rulebook.
